SJSU was definitely representing at the 9th Annual San Francisco International Salsa Congress this past weekend. Dozens of SJSU students competed and performed at the event, including SJSU’s very first salsa performance team, Spartan Mambo!
The team also entered the Amateur Team Competition, placing third next to such stiff competition as Tropical Swing from Cali, Colombia and Son De Mania, Salsamania’s semi-pro team.
SJSU Salsa Club officers Max Shpungin and Takeshi Young also faced off against each other in the Semi-Pro division of the couple’s competition, and Takeshi and his partner were awarded 2nd place for their efforts, beating out tough competitors from around the world.

I hope everyone who was able to make it out had tons of fun. It was a great showing by SJSU.
