Joining The Club
By jonathan on August 29, 2011
Some new policies we are adding to the salsa club.
1. If you do not attend at least two of the twelve meetings we will be holding this semester, you will be dropped from the facebook page and no longer considered an active member. We have over 200 supposed members of the club but nobody participates…I cant make this club amazing without participants!
2. Everyone will be charged $5 at the first meeting they attend. If you attend a second meeting, your $5 will be refunded and you will be considered an official salsa club member!
3. If you attend at least four meetings throughout the semester, you will receive a salsa club t-shirt free of charge!! Otherwise, the shirts will be $5.
Any questions feel free to contact me or Megan

New Meetings
By jonathan on August 29, 2011
Welcome everyone to the Fall 2011 semester! We have an official schedule for the Salsa club meetings
Meetings will be every Tuesday from 6-8pm in the downstairs dance studio of the event center starting September 20th.
I know the dance studios are small, but I figure it will be an excellent way to get to know each other and get comfortable dancing with no personal space. I am so excited to get this salsa season started!

SF Salsa Congress 2010
By takeshi on November 23, 2010
SJSU was definitely representing at the 9th Annual San Francisco International Salsa Congress this past weekend. Dozens of SJSU students competed and performed at the event, including SJSU’s very first salsa performance team, Spartan Mambo!
The team also entered the Amateur Team Competition, placing third next to such stiff competition as Tropical Swing from Cali, Colombia and Son De Mania, Salsamania’s semi-pro team.
SJSU Salsa Club officers Max Shpungin and Takeshi Young also faced off against each other in the Semi-Pro division of the couple’s competition, and Takeshi and his partner were awarded 2nd place for their efforts, beating out tough competitors from around the world.

I hope everyone who was able to make it out had tons of fun. It was a great showing by SJSU.

SJSU Salsa Club In The News
By takeshi on September 8, 2010
If you’ve picked up a copy of the Spartan Daily recently, you’ve probably noticed that the SJSU Salsa Club has been getting a lot of coverage lately.
We got our first mention last week, when Max was quoted in a piece about the Student Org Faire. We also briefly appeared in a video for KICU Channel 36, also about Student Org Faire (fast forward to the 21 second mark). And today Max and Lacey were featured in an article about the Student Involvement Fiesta/Pool Party last week.
It’s only the third week of school and we’ve had a bunch of events, with a whole lot more coming, so stay tuned. And if you’re not a member of our Facebook group yet, make sure you join so you can keep up-to-date with out latest news.
